Over 100 Players Gather in Charlotte for the FTA Winter Futsal Festival

This past Saturday, our Futsal TA community came together for the Winter FTA Festival, and it turned into one of our strongest events yet.

We had over 100 players participate. Considering it was a Saturday afternoon during peak outdoor soccer season, that number means a lot. Many of our players had matches earlier in the day and still made the commitment to show up and compete. That kind of dedication speaks to the culture we are building.

What the Futsal Festival is All About

The festival brought together players from across both the Charlotte and Raleigh regions into one shared environment. Instead of keeping athletes within their regular training groups or locations, we intentionally mixed everyone into new teams. Players were placed alongside teammates they had never trained with before. Different cities. Different ages. Different backgrounds.

This format is intentional.

It recreates something that has slowly disappeared in youth sports. In many countries, kids grow up walking to a local court or playground and playing with whoever shows up. They adapt. They communicate. They figure things out together. That kind of environment builds creativity, confidence, and real understanding of the game.

Today, youth sports can feel overly scheduled. Families travel hours for single matches. Weekends are structured from start to finish. While competition is important, there is something powerful about allowing kids to simply play.

The goal of the festival was simple. Let them play. Let them connect. Let them enjoy being kids.

This is exactly why we do this. One parent shared something afterward that truly captured the day:

“As a parent, it brings me so much joy to see my child playing a sport he loves with a bunch of friends in a really fun, no pressure environment. It was just pure joy. Thanks for making it happen.”

From the first matches, the level was high. Quick decisions. Sharp movement. Creativity in tight spaces. You could see the development happening in real time. Players had to adjust to new teammates and solve problems together. That challenge alone creates growth.

The Parents x Coaches Game

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the Parents vs Coaches match. After plenty of effort and laughter, the coaches secured an 8-2 win. The score was secondary. What mattered was seeing families, coaches, and players sharing the same court and enjoying the experience together.

Our Donation Drive to Help Underprivileged Kids in Brazil

We also hosted a cleats and futsal shoe donation drive during the event. Once again, our families showed incredible generosity. We collected more than 50 pairs of shoes that will soon be placed in the hands of young players who truly need them.

As with our previous donation efforts, these shoes will be distributed to children in Brazil. Many of them do not have access to proper equipment, and something as simple as a pair of cleats can make a meaningful difference in their ability to play.

For our players, this initiative goes beyond donating gear. It helps them understand that the opportunity to train consistently, travel for games, and have access to quality facilities is not something every child experiences. It builds perspective. It builds gratitude. And it reinforces that the game can connect communities across borders.

Giving back is part of who we are as an Academy. We want our players to grow not only as athletes, but as people.

Our Commitment to Provide a Great Environment to the Next Generations

Yes, we care deeply about development. Yes, we emphasize technical quality, decision making, and understanding the game. But if the players are not enjoying the process, none of it matters. Saturday reminded us that growth and joy can exist together.

Futsal in both the Charlotte and Raleigh regions is often viewed as seasonal. For us, it is year round. Events like the FTA Winter Festival allow players from different cities to connect, compete, and grow together while preserving the essence of youth sports.

Over 100 players. More than 50 pairs of shoes donated. One united futsal community.

We are proud of everyone who participated and grateful to every family who continues to support this vision. The next one is already in the works.

Futsal TA has grown into one of the largest futsal clubs in North Carolina, and we are currently the only program in the region consistently running additional year round events that are available to all Academy players across our locations. That consistency matters. Development does not happen by accident. It happens through repetition, competition, and the right environment.

If you are looking for a structured, year round futsal program that still protects the joy and freedom of the game, we invite you to learn more about our Academy.

Training continues weekly across our Charlotte and Raleigh locations. We would love to welcome your family into the community.
